Here in the heart of the northern region of the Sunshine Coast hinterland is a creative community of world class visual artists, furniture makers, sculptors, photographers, potters, leather workers, jewellers, tattooists, florists and performing artists…
In April 2019 Councillor Greg Rogerson paid tribute to the diverse creative community of Division 10 in his “Living in Division 10” column feature in the The Eumundi Green.
David Suters Timbercraftsman was extremely honoured to be involved in this feature, acknowledging the regions arts and creative sector artisans and operatives to Sunshine Coast tourism and economic bottom line.
Here’s what Cr Rogerson had to say…
Here, in our backyard, is a creative community of visual artists, furniture makers, sculptors, photographers, potter, leather workers, jewellers, tattooists, florists and performing artists. They are part of the Coast’s cultural wealth and health. They help to boost the number of Sunshine Coast visitors looking for a cultural experience and they add to the economic bottom line.
Artists and gallery owners, Cindy and David Suters (pictured), moved to Eumundi to join this community. “It’s wonderful being a part of a town and an identity shaped by the arts, surrounded by dozens of creatives working in so many mediums.” said Cindy. “Many have retail outlets in town, some at home and by appointment only, others exhibit through local galleries. We all invite you to visit Eumundi to be inspired by our love of art and creative thinking”.
The Sunshine Coast Arts Plan affirms the value and potential of the region’s creative communities with clear goals supporting investment in their growth, resourcing and promotion.
